Gear Reduction
When you increase your tire size you want to eliminate the strain on your drivetrain by reducing your gear ratio. This has been done traditionally by replacing your ring and pinions in your differentials, but it’s MUCH more beneficial for your transmission and entire drivetrain to reduce your gear ratio at the hubs.
Ground Clearance
The point of putting on bigger tires or modifying your suspension as it relates to functionality is to increase your ground clearance. Werewolf Portals are the only way to functionally run 38″ – 42″ tires on IFS for the models that we offer. If you put portals and 42s on your Tacoma you’ll gain a full 11″ of ground clearance.
